Lack of music hit a sour note with charity night organisers

re Mayfield Hotel, Seamer.

I have been a local there since the late 1950s with entertainment always at weekends without complaints.

In 1980 I started organising annual dinners with entertainment for all.

Raffles and tombolas went with the night, all profits going to local charities Mencap, Wilf Ward Trust, Alzheimer’s and Breast Cancer Care.

Saturday February 25 was our annual dinner for 2012.

On Friday February 24 at the last minute we were informed, due to complaints from locals, no music would be allowed.

At the end of the night our financial intake had been affected and therefore the ones that lost out were the Scarborough charities.

I hope that any of the complainants never want our help in the future.
