I attended the council meeting about the proposed Scarborough Leisure Village on May 28.
I went because my mother lives near the proposed Weaponness site and is unable to get out herself.
I recorded the planning committee meeting for her so she could hear it for herself.
I was dismayed, as most people were, when we heard the answers from the planning committee, who did not have a clue about the questions that were asked.
It seemed to me that the meeting was a farce, because to myself and my mother it seemed that the council had already decided to pass it by the answers they gave to the questions asked – and the new councillors just followed like sheep.
It was a waste of public time. It’s time the councillors listened to the voices, especially those whose lives will be affected by the development.
