A coach full of Scarborough people have just returned from Cahir, Scarborough’s twin town in southern Ireland. They were there for one week for this annual tour and visited the Blarney Stone, Waterford Crystal, Bunratty and Smithwicks Brewery.
A civic reception was held for the group by the mayor of Cahir and councillors. Also attending was Mattie McGrath the TD (equivalent to an MP) for Tipperary.
The Shamrock Lounge put on a welcome dinner and The Bell pub put on a farewell night with a typical Irish band of seven musicians.
The mayor presented Mike Manning with a bronze plaque of Cahir Castle and Mike presented the mayor and councillors with books on the Yorkshire coast.
The Cahir group will come to visit Scarborough in May.
