Lifeboat Appeal: Guild thanks for generous offer

The Scarborough Ladies Lifeboat Guild would like to thank the Weston Hotel, South Cliff, for its very generous offer to support our appeal for the Supacat Tractor.

The hotel decided to have one of our ‘Yellow Wellies’ collection boots on the bar area and held a fundraising evening during the World Cup which raised £52.

The Weston Hotel has always supported the lifeboat appeals but is the Guild’s first hotel to come forward to support the tractor appeal.

We have good support from the Scarborough hoteliers in general throughout the year, but we appeal to you one and all to follow the Weston’s example and display the ‘Yellow Wellie’ for the rest of the season.

These may be obtained from the boat house or by contacting Lynne Garforth on 373788, so come on hoteliers give it a whirl!

Our next fundraising event is to be held by the Mount Hotel, which has very generously offered to have a coffee morning on August 27 at 10.30am. This will cost £3.50 and all of the proceeds will go towards the Supacat Appeal. If you wish to attend please contact Mrs Gladys Freeman, chairman, on 366630.

Don’t forget our big event ‘A Bit of a Do’ black tie dinner dance at the Red Lea Hotel on September 20, tickets also can be obtained from Gladys for this event.
