Pledge to defend British traditions

IT’S AN exercise of everyone’s right to peaceful assembly.

We are an organisation which is unashamedly Protestants but which also espouses civil and religious liberty for all.

The Orange Order is well placed to ensure that we do not lose our sense of British identity across the Kingdom and that that sense of identity is brought into the mainstream of our communities and not abandoned to others. It is important that a sense of Britishness is not left carelessly lying on the political fringes of the nation. We reaffirm our loyalty to the throne and person of Her Gracious Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and of her other realms, Defender of the Faith.

Her Majesty occupies the throne subject to the constitutional statutes that followed the Glorious Revolution of 1688.

These laws established a Protestant monarchy and democratic parliament that have served our nation for well over 300 years.

The interests of all our people of whatever faith are best served by a Protestant monarchy, and we pledge ourselves to resist all attempts to alter the British Constitution in any way that would put our precious liberties at risk.
