RE: SEAFEST thanks

Despite the weather, the 12th Seafest International Maritime Festival was a success and enjoyed by thousands of residents and visitors.

As chairman of the Seafest Steering Group I would sincerely thank all the steering group members for their help and support, especially fellow organisers Jane, Janet and Tim from Tourism together with Ian and Richard from the harbour Masters office together with harbour staff, Bob from our safety department, Scarborough Borough Council staff and all the many volunteers both performers, exhibitors and stewards, who gave so generously of their time.

I would thank our music venue sponsors within the Old Town, organised by Richard of Klondyke Folk Art our seafest food theatre under the supervision of Irene and the leading chefs of our region who gave of their time to provide the captivating continuous two day seafood demonstrations, Scarborough Maritime Heritage Group for their excellent exhibition, Croptons Brewery and all the many exhibitors and other off stage providers including our RNLI, Rowing Club and Sea Cadets.

Also thanks to Rev Pam Jennings, Trish Kensella and St Mary’s Church and choir for co-ordinating the Sunday service on the pier.

Sincere thanks to our many sponsors, Welcome to Yorkshire, Deliciously Yorkshire, Scarborough Bough Council, old town music venues and providers, together with traders of the South Bay and Town, hotels, business groups and residents who sponsored the spectacular firework display on the South Bay.

Our thanks also to Scarborough Evening News for such excellent coverage and we look forward and are planning the 2012 festival and would welcome any sponsorship and exhibitors.
