Taste for success at Party in the Park

ON SUNDAY June 5 Peasholm Park Friends hosted our annual Party in the Park, combining it this year with the Big Lunch.

Through your pages I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the success of the day; this includes the Mayor and Mayoress who found the time in their busy schedule to come and add their presence to our event.

In particular my thanks include all of the Peasholm Park Committee – or Team Peasholm as I refer to them! Linda Harper, Robert Haynes, Anne and Terry Sayers, Tony and Mary Davison gave unstintingly of their time and did so uncomplainingly and with great enthusiasm.

I believe this party was possibly one of our best ever events. In total, we raised £366.60. All of this money will go towards our Centenary Party next year.

The music provided by the Shadows tribute band was outstanding; they played virtually non-stop between noon and 4.30 pm. And their audience sat glued to their seats in admiration for the whole of that time…. and it was cold in Peasholm Park on Sunday June 5! Very cold indeed!

Fragrant and succulent food provided by the wonderful Thai Manor Restaurant on North Marine Road; served to as many people as possible was consumed within 20 minutes! Amazing!

Stallholders, including a face painter a Tarot reader, homemade cakes, jewellery, cards and much more, were on offer; every one of them donated to the Peasholm Park Friends; so thank you all!

I have also to thank the staff of the Peasholm Park Café and the Buttercup Kiosk; the increased numbers of people who used the facilities did not dampen their cheer or their helpfulness one jot. They are a credit to our town.
