Thanks to all who fought to save tree

RE: IRTON tree costs.

Judge Roger Ibbotson last week made an order that the County Council pay the legal costs incurred by Scarborough Council, I applaud that decision.

Scarborough officers and councillors who were involved from the beginning in 2006 did all they could to protect a tree that stood in our village of Irton. They did so knowing it was the right and correct action to take.

North Yorkshire County Council succumbed, I believe, to pressure from insurance companies, a bad decision that they must now regret.

Yes the tree has gone but I have to say ”well done” to all who tried their best.
