Volunteers can help those less fortunate

Make a difference to the lives of older people – volunteer.

I work for Independent Age, the charity which supports thousands of older people across the UK and Republic of Ireland. We tackle older people’s poverty and loneliness by offering information, advice and friendship. For those who need it, we also offer befriending and support from an Independent Age volunteer.

We support over 6,000 older people across the UK and Ireland and are in urgent need of new people to join our dedicated network of volunteer visitors in Scarborough.

As a volunteer you’d be matched with an older person living near you, giving them the opportunity to see a friendly, familiar face on a regular basis; perhaps dropping by for a coffee and a chat, checking that someone is alright or arranging a trip to the local shops.

You can give as little or as much time as you can spare and by committing a couple of hours a month you can help to brighten the life of an older person living in your local community.

All new volunteers receive a full induction and, of course, we’ll pay for your expenses.
