Wizard anniversary for charity

I write on behalf of the local Scarborough fundraising branch of Save the Children.

Our charity has been working to help children in this country as well as overseas for many decades, and this branch is about to hold its final events of our 50th anniversary year in our town.

At this point we feel that people may like to know how much we have appreciated the generous support we have received over those years. Our thanks to all who have helped us in so many ways – now and in the past, which certainly includes the Scarborough Evening News.

Particularly we want to publicly thank Bramcote School for their wonderful help to us over the past 10 years. On each of them they have allowed us a ‘benefit performance’ of their various pre-Christmas performances, including a number of memorable musical shows. In that time they have raised over £3,500 for our work.

The shows are always enjoyable, and their sustained support is amazing.

Now we are looking forward to their next performance on Thursday December 8 at 2.30pm. They are giving us the delightful The Wizard of Oz show then. All are welcome to come to it, admission is only £5 at the door, including tea and biscuits.

This seems to us to be a fitting finale to our special anniversary year.
