Bronwen shines on Welsh debut

Thornton-le-Dale teenager Bronwen Owen made a notable debut as a member of the Wales under-20 women’s team at the United Kingdom Cross Challenge event, which was held at Cardiff.

Bronwen attends Lady Lumley’s School Sixth Form and competes for Scarborough Athletic Club, came very close to winning the under-20 race when finishing a close up second behind the experienced Welsh team member Olivia Gwyn.

Bronwen’s challenge in the later stages of the race prompted Olivia to say that the last 250 metres lasted forever.

This result augers well for Bronwen’s debut at the Welsh National Cross Country Championships next month,

She will also be launching a bid to win a third Northern Counties Championship title at Pontefract this weekend.
