An unbeaten 74 from Aaron Howard helped Filey 2nds wrap up a 38-run win against Nawton Grange 2nds in the Murray Brown & Son Cricket Cup final at Flixton CC.
On a great batting wicket, Filey posted a superb 183-2 from 20 overs, Howard smacking five sixes in his cracking innings, with Matthew Dickens hitting a powerful 56 and Ben Briggs 42.
Youngster Joe Lush was the pick of the Grange bowlers with 1-29 from his five overs.
In reply, Grange lost two early wickets but Ian Ward, 56, and Neil Ward, 36, turned the game around to give the Ryedale side a chance.
But once this experienced duo were out Grange fell short by 38 runs, Kevin Chapman, 2-22 from five overs, was the top Filey bowler.
Mel Brown - owner of sponsors Murray Brown and Son - gave a man of the match award to Howard and thanked both clubs for an excellent game and then presented the trophies to both teams.
Result: Filey 2nds 183-2 (A Howard 74no, M Dickens 56, B Briggs 42, J Lush 1-29) beat Nawton Grange 2nds 147-4 (I Ward 56, N Ward 36, D King 15no, K Chapman 2-22) by 38 runs.
