Lyth replaced Moeen Ali in the Sultans squad, playing two PSL games and impressing with bat and ball.

The Whitby man took centre stage as he smashed three sixes and four fours on his way to a rapid 50 from 28 balls in the Sultans’ encounter against Lahore Qalanders.

“I jumped at the chance to go and play in the Pakistan SL when my agent called,” said former Scarborough batsman Lyth.

“It all happened very quickly, we’d had interest from a few different teams, but before i knew it I was on the flight out to Karachi and it was a fantastic experience.

“I thought I did well and hopefully my 50 has put me in the shop window for other T20 franchise competitions in the near future.”

“I managed to chip in with the ball and took a few important catches as well, which shows I am a bit of an all-rounder when it comes to T20 cricket.

“I tend to bowl in the powerplays too, which is very tough.

“Hopefully we’ll get a few offers coming through to play in a few other T20 franchise competitions soon, that would be nice.

“I’ve never been picked up in the Big Bash or IPL before, so it would be nice to get the call and have a chance to go and play in those on the biggest stage.”

Lyth enjoyed experiencing the PSL, adding: “It was a great experience in Karachi, the facilities were great and the security was second to none so all in all it was great to be involved and hopefully I’ve impressed a few people.”
