Shaun Topham was Forge Valley’s leading performer with 4-46 with the ball.

The visitors Joe Bradshaw produced a scintillating display of stroke play as he registered his second century of the season, compiling 113, but support was found wanting and with Aussie Nick Strangio claiming 5-41, including a superb hat-trick, as Cayton claimed a full 20 points.

They join Staxton at the top, who avenged last week’s first loss in 19 matches by beating Nawton Grange at home for a 19 point win.

Grange won the toss and batted first and made 187 all out as Nick Thornicroft top scored with an adventurous 69 and captain Jonny Pickard made 40.

Linden Gray was the home side’s best bowler, the spinner taking a superb 6-56.

Nick Gibson registered his fourth half-century of the campaign and Chris Dove made 43, but the defending champions were indebted to a fine 52 not out from Jodie Robson to steer his side to victory with 30 balls to spare despite 3-51 from left-arm spinner Dean Coote.

Filey jumped into the top five after a comprehensive home win over Flixton 2nds.

Nathan Robson took 4-19 and Benjamin Briggs 3-27 as the visitors struggled throughout their innings, making only 85 with Leigh Franks making 18.

Aaron Howard then smacked a quickfire 42 and Ryan Baldry added 18 not out to see Filey to a seven-wicket win.

Staithes edged past Ebberston to stay in touch at the top.

Ebberston batted first and were reliant on Adrian Turnbull’s fine 51 as spinner Justin Ringin took 4-25 in their disappointing 127 all out.

Simon Bowes, 31, Brad Lewis, 30, and Matt Sanderson, 28, steered Staiths side to a narrow two-wicket win as Eddie Swiers claimed 3-26 and Sam Hardie 3-27, as the pair caused consistent problems.

Heslerton did the double over Scalby, winning away by 102 runs.

Jake Keyworth was again among the runs, top scoring with 69.

Wily spinner Paul Hesp bowled well to claim 4-41, but 36 from Tony Watson, 30 not out from Malcolm Spaven and Stuart Pickard’s 26 saw Heslerton post 222/7.

Brad Walker made 25 in reply, but the home batsmen had no answer to Andy Slaughter, who took a superb 6-32 in 10 overs as the home side were all out for 120.

Cayton 2nds captain Simon Glave hit top form as he took an amazing 7-8 from 12 overs as Wykeham were all out for just 75 in division A, Matty Graves making 25 not out.

In-form speedster Dave Pearson tried to keep his side in the match, but his 4-37 wasn’t enough as David Walker’s 29 saw Cayton to a fine 18-point win.

Mulgrave moved back into pole position with a five-wicket home win over Brompton.

Brompton were all out for 174 as Neil Fletcher hit 73.

Michael Thompson claimed 3-59 and then found form with the bat making 33, but 93 not out from Andrew Thompson proved to be the match-winner as Mulgrave took top spot.

Seamer suffered a surprising home defeat against Settrington.

The visiots made 137 with Stephen Beal top scoring with 34 as Adam Morris 5-27, and Paul Greenough, 3-25, put the hosts in control.

Anthony Jenkins with 44 and Gregg Chadwick’s 35 gave Seamer a perfect base, but an excellent 5-29 from Eddie Rounthwaite saw Settrington to a narrow three-run win.

Cloughton’s Pete Milner wreaked havoc as Grindale were all out for 60.

Milner took 5-18 as Cloughton’s good form continued as Chris Woodhouse ensured a 19 point win by hitting 43 not out.

Ganton posted 281/3 on their own track in a high-scoring win against Ravenscar in division B.

Alastair Limb’s brilliant 129, including 10 fours and six sixes, and Anthony Allison’s 96 not out did all the damage as they shared a second-wicket stand of 226.

Ravenscar responded well with 208-8 with Joe Bayes top scoring with 40, but they couldn’t quite chase down Ganton’s huge total.

There was also a run fest at Bridlington 2nds, with visitors Scalby 2nds coming out on top by 19 runs.

Tom Gregory smashed an unbeaten 66, James Ledden, a recent acquisition from Forge Valley, hit 56 and Jack Boddy made 48 as Scalby posted 220-4.

Brid’s Peter Bowtell made 48 and Harry Burnhill’s 47 gave the home side hope, but 3-36 from Tony Geall in a tight spell was the architect of Bridlington’s downfall as they finished on 201-6.

Skipper Barry Heyes hit a fine 59 as Fylingdales travelled to Forge Valley 2nds, but Sean Pinder’s 4-40 helped restrict the visitors to 172-7.

They responded well after tea as Phil Marr and Steve Pratt both made 39, but 3-36 from Tom Richardson and 3-54 Will Curtis saw them all out for 188.

Ebberston 2nds chalked up an imposing 309-7, which included superb 110 from Alex Machin against Ryedale.

Scott Woodhead made 54 and Joe Tyson’s 47 also helped Ebberston rack-up the runs despite 3-39 from Kieran Edmond and three wickets for Neil Cowton.

Cowton also made 53 in reply and with Dan Hardey and Stephen Temple also hitting half-centuries, Ryedale claimed maximum batting points finishing on 221-7, but fell 88 runs short in the process.
