Heslerton kept their Readers Scarborough Beckett Cricket League premier division title push on track with a 59-run home win against rivals Flixton 2nds.

Tom Milner (30no) and Mal Spaven (23no) shared a crucial last-wicket stand to take the home side to 139-9.

Aussie Caleb Grant and Mark Shackley had the hosts in all sorts of trouble earlier in the innings with three wickets apiece.

Forge Valley maintained their challenge with a seven-wicket win at Cayton.

Paul Woodhead (37) was the only batsman to shine as the hosts were dismissed for 117, James Tindall taking six wickets and Andy Holden the other four, Valley easing to victory for the loss of just three wickets.

Kirkby eased to a 10-wicket win at home to Cloughton, while hosts Staxton defeated Ebberston by six wickets despite a battling 71 from the visitors’ Eddie Craggs.

Leaders Filey hammered division A title rivals Sherburn, easing to a 121-run success against the visitors at Clarence Drive.

Andy Burrell led the way with 68 and Aaron Howard struck 54 as the home side posted 168-8, Simon Dobson the pick of the Sherburn bowlers with 3-37.

Paul Bowes then snapped up a superb 6-16 and Lee Plant, promoted from the second team, took 4-28 as the villagers slumped to 47 all out.

Grindale continue to look strong at the top of division B, winning by 87 runs at home to Fylingdales.

Ian Cousins led the way with a forceful 81 as the hosts scored 213-8 and in reply ‘Dales stuttered to 126-6.

Scarborough 3rds climbed off the foot of the table with their first win of the season, triumphing by six wickets at home to Cayton 2nds.

Kieran Howard’s 51 was vital to Scarborough in their successful pursuit of Cayton’s meagre 111-9.

Scalby 2nds are looking strong at the top of division C, strolling to a 66-run win at home to Ravenscar, Brad Walker’s 68 the highlight of the hosts’ win.

A worrying development in this division was the inability of Cloughton 2nds and Heslerton 2nds to raise teams for their games against Ganton and Staithes 2nds respectively.
