The area’s big-hitting batsmen will be battling it out for some top prizes at the 28th annual Staxton six-a-side tournament this Sunday.

Twelve clubs have again signed up for the popular tournament, won by Flixton in 2013.

The club have managed to secure over £600-worth of prizes from Welsh bat manufacturer T P Willow, who are sponsoring this year’s tournament.

T P Willow will be supplying bats, batting pads and batting gloves as individual prizes for the tournament which include best batsman, best bowler, best all-rounder and many more.

Heslerton, Cloughton and Brompton will meet in group A, Ganton, Ebberston and Sherburn have been drawn in group B, Scalby, champions Flixton and Seamer are in group C and Cayton, Wykeham and Forge Valley meet in group D.

The group winners will then contest the semi-finals before the two winners meet in the final at approximately 7.10pm.

The tournament starts at 10am and there will also be a raffle, refreshments and the bar is open with entry only £1.
