The league’s committee will rubber-stamp plans to move all clubs into the Scarborough Beckett League at the meeting on Tuesday November 17.

Secretary Bernard Goulding said: “This meeting will be a sad day for the Derwent Valley League having been in existence since 1920, but things move on and with reducing teams it seems logical to have just one league running in the area.”

It is expected that all teams currently in the DVL will be incorporated into the Beckett League in a new five or six-division structure from 2016.

“I’d like to thank our president, vice-presidents, chairman, committee and all the member clubs for their help and support in my time as secretary,” added Goulding.
