DVL: Kiwi Edwards stars as Hospitals/Rugby Club hammer Lockton

Hospitals/Rugby Club has Kiwi star Marcus Edwards to thank as he shone with bat and ball in their five-wicket win at Lockton.

Edwards took 3-16 alongside 4-31 from Scott Maw to help restrict Lockton to 160 all out, John Moxon top-scoring with 39 with support from Guy Nattrass, 37, and David Bointon, 33.

It proved to be too light a total as Kiwi all-rounder Edwards smashed an unbeaten 115 in reply as Hospitals/Rugby Club made it home five wickets down to continue their climb up the division A table.

Filey 2nds dented Flixton 3rds’ promotion hopes with a tense one-wicket win in the penultimate over of their clash.

Carl Sample’s 62 and 38 from John Sowden helped Flixton post 186-9, Lewis Adams claiming 3-45.

Paul Kempson, 51, and Nathan Vernon, 48, ensured Filey made it home, although Pete Hill, 3-32, and Sample’s 3-35 ensured it wasn’t easy for the away side, as they lost nine wickets on their way to victory.

Kirkbymoorside head up the table afyer their 52-run win against Nawton Grange 2nds.

Adam Magson’s 45 with support from Howard Mudd, 29, helped Kirkby to 181-9 at tea, George Bentley taking 3-27 and Jack Hugill 4-38.

Despite Rory Talling hitting 30 in reply, Jimmy Harper’s 3-23 helped restrict the home side to 129-9.

Sheburn 2nds came out on top of another tense affair against Wold Newton 2nds, winning by just four runs.

Jack Pickard, 40, Joel Wharton, 37, Phil Leckonby, 33, and Brian Garbutt, 26, helped Sherburn along to 172-9 as Chris Hodgson claimed 3-20.

Matthew Southwell’46 and 35 from Hodgson looked to have set Newton up for the win, but 5-58 from Jamie Thompson was enough to restrict the away side to 168-8 at the close.

Sewerby 3rds’ miserable season continued as they failed to raise a side for their game against Forge Valley 3rds.

Division B table-toppers Valley Bar Nomads suffered a heavy defeat at Snainton as Michael Eyre shone with bat and ball.

Snainton posted 251-8 as Matthew Davies hit 79 not out, supported by 49 from Michael Eyre, 44 from Paul Nicholson and 36 from Carl Wilson as Jim Hunter took 3-66.

Bar were all out for 144 in reply, Craig Best and Thomas Brookes hitting 29 each as Eyre snapped up 5-37.

Scott Orange was in form with bat and ball as he helped squeeze Muston 2nds to a 31-run win against Wykeham 3rds.

Orange hit 58 as Muston posted 150 all out, Toby Wrightson taking 3-12.

Wykeham were all out for 119 in reply despite George Shannon’s 35, Orange taking 3-30.

Ganton 2nds beat Ravenscar 2nds by eight runs.

Dan Reardon hit 66 and Mark Lockwood 38 as Ganton posted 151-8, John Nelson taking 3-22 for Ravenscar.

Depsite 33 from Lee Holsworth and 28 from Luke Stokoe in reply, 5-30 from Reardon and 3-23 from David Arnell helped halt the Ravenscar innings on 143 all out, just eight runs short of their target.

Scalby 3rds remain rooted to the foot of the division after defeat against Thornton Dale 2nds.

Dale were all out for 194 as Sam Asquith, 57, Patrick Stephenson, 40, Will Taylor, 33, and Paul Waring 33, all found scoring easy to come by despite figures of 4-43 from Toby Pearce.

Scalby were all out for 125 in reply as Waring took 3-37 and Matthew Knowles 4-26, despite Carl Marton smashing 54.

Cayton 3rds were without a fixture this week.
