FILEY pulled off a shock victory over division A leaders Flixton by eight wickets.

Flixton were into bat first and posted 145-7, Oliver Stephenson, 36 and Rob Lacey, 49no contributing to the total.

Paul Barnes, 3-16 and Phil Dickens 3-18, were the pick of the Filey bowling attack.

In reply, Filey made it to their target for the loss of just two wickets, Andy Burrell, 33no and Will Hunter, 67, led the victory charge.

The bottom two sides did battle when Cayton took on Seamer with Cayton coming out on top by five wickets.

Gregg Chadwick, 54, Daryl Lewis, 28 and Carl Myerscough 29no, were all among the runs as Seamer made 163-4.

Cayton’s response was to knock the runs off for the loss of five wickets, Simon Glave the top scorer with 58.

Joe Tiffany took 3-34 but it wasn’t enough for Seamer.

Cloughton’s clash with Ebberston and Scalby’s match against Staxton were both called off due to wet pitches.

Dave Pearson led the way with 62 when his Wykeham side got the better of Seamer B in division B by 123 runs.

Wykeham batted first and made 158-8, Kev Vasey, 3-18 and Andy Ward, 3-36, among the wicket takers for Seamer.

Seamer were then skittled out for just 35, Matthew Vincent, 4-7 and spinner Stephen Day, 4-4, taking wickets for Wykeham.

Hospitals were another side on the winning trail when they defeated Staxton B by 52 runs.

Hospitals batted first and posted 124-6, Phil Stewart, 50, and Aussie all-rounder Mark Tennant, 46, among the run makers.

Staxton B were then dismissed for 72, Andy Dove top scoring with 37 while Steve Norris snapped up 3-15 for Hospitals.

Brompton’s clash with Sherburn and Forge Valley’s game with Hunmanby both fell victim to the weather.
