Holt and Harland shine in Scarborough win

Scarborough maintained their push for York Senior League premier division glory on Saturday when they beat Heworth by seven wickets.

Jack Holt took 5-39 as Heworth were bowled out for 176, Neil Martin top scoring for the visitors with 62.

Scarborough’s Darren Harland became the third batsmen to pass 500 runs this season on his way to 71, and Mark Tennant scored 57, to add to last week’s 92 as the home side strolled to victory.

In division one, Beverley Town 2nds’ unbeaten record remained intact as they defeated Flixton by six wickets.

Ian Gillyon (56) and Tom Norton (50) both scored half-centuries as the home side chased down the visitors 194-6 which contained 38 each from Matthew and Jamie Nesfield.

Scarborough 2nds grabbed a win by 97 runs in their division three south game against Fenner 2nds.

Josh Mainprize led Scarborough away to a solid start before he was run out on 27, but Kieron Mills (47), Darren Mills (81no) and 30 from Jake Finnegan led the score to a useful 240-7.

Then 4-33 from Charlie Roberts, 1-18 from Jordan Welford and Harrison Wood’s 4-29 saw off Fenner for 143.
