Local cricketer Gary Jones was honoured for the sixth year at Flixton as friends and family gathered for the annual T20 cricket game in his memory.
Mick Walmsley’s Plaxtons XI posted a score of 127 as Andy Dunn and Liam Salt contributed.
It went to the wire as Chris Allen’s XI needed three to win off the last ball but ended up falling one short, Walmsley’s XI taking a 4-2 lead overall.
Gary’s dad Barry was delighted as a record amount of £1,220 was raised for Mencap and the Wilf Ward Family Trust.
Barry said: “It’s great that we are raising record amounts after six years. Thank you to everyone who came along and supported.”
