Flixton skipper Will Norman has paid tribute to his team and their travelling support after they moved into the semi-finals of the National Village Cup with a tense, hard-fought win against Falkland in Scotland.

Norman’s men are now just one win from a dream final at Lord’s, they meet Fillongley in the last four on Sunday August 5.

The skipper said: “It was such a great relief to get over the line again in another close encounter.

“I have to say, I think the best side won on the day, but you still have to get the job done.

The travelling supporters were fantastic, particularly Benidorm Corner, plus I have to thank president Mick Blackborrow, chairman Mel Brown and family and also all the players.

“They’ve been fantastic on this cup run and hopefully we can put in one more big performance in the semi-final.”

Flixton will travel to Fillongley, the winner of the Midlands final, on August 5, with the winner going on to a dream final at Lord’s on Sunday September 16.

There will be coaches running to the game, contact James Brown on 07793 655 621 for details.
