Northstead seal county final spot

NORTHSTEAD will represent the Scarborough & District at the Year 5/6 Girls’ Kwik Cricket County Finals at Harrogate after winning the local finals.

Northstead beat Newby in the final at Cayton Cricket Club by 29 runs.

Eight teams took part in the finals and were spilt into two groups with the top two from each advancing to the semi-finals.

On their way to victory Northstead picked up group wins over Gladstone Road B and Lindhead but actually finished as runners-up behind table-toppers Newby who beat Seamer in the semi-finals.

So in the final it was the two teams from group two who met with Northstead eventually coming out on top.

Organiser Stephen Staveley said: “It was a very good finals day and I would like to say a big thank you to Cayton Cricket Club for allowing us to use their ground and facilities.

“Well done to Northstead for winning and good luck to them in the county finals at Harrogate Cricket Club on Tuesday July 5.”
