He said: “I had a chat with Guy Emmett and when an opportunity for a House Master role came about, I didn’t want to turn it down.

“The cricket side of things was always going to come through into it and I’m delighted to be involved.”

Following his final ODI against Sri Lanka, Rinke signed for Scarborough Cricket Club, who competed in the Oxbridge Yorkshire ECB County Premier League.

His extensive knowledge and experience is something that he is hoping will be passed onto the cricketers at the College.

He added: “I’ve been playing cricket for a long time and I’ve had the opportunity to play on nearly every continent that plays cricket and come up against the world’s best players.

“There is a big thing about passing your own experiences on to other players and this is a huge part of an individual’s development.

“The college has some really good cricketers who are extremely dedicated and work very hard.

“The proof will be in the pudding once they get out into the middle and face a competitive environment.

“We’ve got some girls that have some amazing talent and the younger boys are showing a real understanding and are committed to the game.”

When asked about a potential playing return to North Marine Road, Rinke believes that he might struggle to bowl 25 overs from one end again and admits that he might have a few decisions to make.

“I’ve still got to make a decision on whether I will be playing or not and I am not as youthful as I was when I last played at Scarborough,” he added.

“I might struggle to bowl 25 overs from one end again.”
