Scarborough CC’s first team slumped to a heavy defeat at Doncaster in the Solly Sports Yorkshire ECB County Premier League.
Kunwar Bansil (21) and Darren Harland (22) gave the visitors some early hope, but they slumped to 76-7 and only 15 from Aussie bowler Carl Joyce and an unbeaten 17 from Tom Precious helped them to 116 all out from 36.1 overs.
Former Yorkshire player Simon Widdup was the pick of the home bowlers with 4-22 from 8.1 overs, while Alex Gosney’s eight overs yielded 3-20.
In reply, openers Felix Odell (49no) and Widdup (40) put on 76 as the home side raced to within touching distance of victory.
Precious clean-bowled Widdup, but number three batsman Stuart Guy (17no) then linked up with Odell to wrap up the win in only 16.1 overs.
Scarborough will be hoping to return to winning ways when they play host to basement club Sheffield United on Saturday July 12.
