Neil Elvidge’s 86 helped Flixton to a five-wicket win against Whitkirk in division one of the York Senior League, while Scarborough 2nds suffered an agonising one-wicket loss at home to Ripon in division three.

Mark Murphey had shone in the visitors’ innings with a stylish 106, while Sam Parker was unbeaten on 34.

Jamie Nesfield, Lee Elvidge and Nick Zakrzewski took two wickets apiece for the home side.

In division three, struggling Scarborough 2nds lost out in a thriller against promotion-chasing Ripon.

Josh Mainprize led the way with the bat for the home side with a half-century, while Chris Hunter’s undefeated 24 guided them to 164-7 from their 45 overs.

In reply, Andrew Banks hit 37 and Robert Taylor 28, but consistent bowling from Hunter (2-35), Rhys Milner (2-24) and Matty Kay (2-47) set up a thrilling finish, the final pair edging Ripon across the finishing line.
