YORK LEAGUE: Scarborough see off Heworth

Scarborough boosted their York League Premier Division title challenge with a five-wicket home win against Heworth.

Theo Smith took 5-49 as the vistors were dismissed for 199 and then top scored with 51 as the North Marine Road club secured victory.

Alex Carrie also weighed in with 39 while an unbeaten 36 from Alex Carrie saw the hosts safely home.

Flixton cruised to a 60-run home win against Beverley Town 2nds in Division One, easing any lingering relegation fears for the villagers.

Anthony Stones led the way for the hosts with 63, while Nick Zakrzewski added 48 and Harry Walmsley 32 as Flixton were all out for 242 in 44.5 overs.

Peter Parnaby was the top Town bowler with 3-51.

Tom Hudson smashed a superb 77 for the visitors but fine bowling from Walmsley, 5-46, saw the Beverley side all out for 182.

Scarborough 2nds completed a hat-trick of wins for the local sides with a comfortable eight-wicket win at Fenners 2nds to keep their own title push on the right track in Division Three South.

Josh Mainprize took 3-29 and Jordan Welford 3-40 as Fenners were pegged back to 177-8 from their 45 overs.

Charlie Roberts then continued his fine recent form with a cracking 103, allied to Kieron Howard’s 39 as Mark Cowell’s side strolled to victory.
