YORK LEAGUE: Scarborough see off Zingari

Scarborough CC maintained their unbeaten start to the Hunters York & District Senior Cricket League Premier Division season with a 27-run win at home to Hull Zingari on Saturday.

Openers Darren Harland and Mark Tennant gave the hosts a fine start with a stand of 84 before Harland departed for 51, after Tennant’s dismissal for 57 the Scarborough innings stuttered to 155-5.

But a sixth-wicket stand of 62 between Theo Smith, 45, and Kristian Wilkinson, 40, helped the hosts to post 224-6.

In reply, Matthew Bunn, 57, and Jack Storey, 42, gave the Hull side hope, but superb bowling from Jack Holt, who took 5-40 in 15 overs, and Ryan Gibson, 3-68 in 14.1 overs, saw them skittled for 197 in 49.1 overs.

Scarborough 2nds skipper Mark Cowell struck a defiant unbeaten 44 as they hung on for a losing division three south draw at Civil Service.

The hosts batted first and made a decent 225-7, William Phelps blasting 83 and L Hallam 53 while Graeme Sherlock weighed in with 32.

David Brannan was the pick of the Scarborough bowlers with 3-51.

Jake Finnigan, 38, was the only other Scarborough batsman to impress wth the skipper holding on to earn his side with a draw with his determined knock.

Flixton suffered a 120-run hammering at home to Sessay in division one, visiting batsman Matthew Till smashing a superb 155.

Mark Wilkie added 56 and Tim Hall 40 as the visitors declared on a massive 320-3, Flixton being dismissed for 201 in reply.
