Sunday saw in-form junior rider Bayes compete on the Bank Road climb at the Derbyshire venue.

There were around 450 entries for the short, steep climb which lasts for two to three minutes of sheer pain. The weather was unusually good for late October, warm, dry and barely any wind.

The organising club, Matlock CC, had the climb closed for 180 minutes to allow riders to soak up the atmosphere as spectators were out in force encouraging the riders up the climb.

The overall men's winner was Adam Kenway (Metaltek Kuoata RT) in 2 minutes 18.2 seconds, with the women's winner Lou Bates (Veloschils Interbike RT) in 2 mins 57.1 secs.

Bayes did extremely well, finishing in seventh junior place, only 35 seconds behind the junior winner, she was also fourth-placed 16-year old.
