Elvidge confident of upturn in fortunes after tough start to campaign

Ben Elvidge is thriving in his new role as Scarborough CC's first team skipper, despite a baptism of fire in the role at North Marine Road.

Elvidge’s side are second-bottom in the Yorkshire Premier League North without a win in six and face a tough test in Yorkshire Academy at North Marine Road this week.

Elvidge is confident his side will turn it around though.

“It has been very tough but we are making improvements, definitely,” he said.

“Saturday’s draw with York was massively frustrating, we bowled superbly and restricted them to 135-6, then the rain cut our chase short.

“I think the improvements we made with the ball and momentum we’ll take forward could be more valuable than the five extra points we could have added.”

Elvidge knows Saturday’s clash with Academy will be tough.

“They’re always strong, but we’re improving and can beat them if we perform.”
