There were 82 entries for the shore match, which is 20 more than last year’s equivalent fixture, so the signs are promising for a popular festival this time around.

Redcar’s Mark Smith won the greatest weight of fish match with a bag of 19lb 5oz 1drm, with Lebberston’s Phil Arliss second on 17-0-1 and Scarborough’s Steve Hoyle in third with 14-2-6.

Matty Burton won the juvenile class with 2-11-9, Richard Haxby the Filey Brigg Angling Society section - and the Superpool - with 6-13-3 and Peter Bayes the over-60 category with 9-7-1.
