Jimmy Beadle has left Scarborough Athletic for NCEL Premier side Tadcaster Albion.
Joint-boss Bryan Hughes believes that Beadle, who struck 20 goals in 37 starts last season, has just opted to take up a new challenge.
But Hughes has underlined that Beadle will be welcomed back if things don’t work out at the Brewers.
He said: “Jimmy just sees it as a new challenge to get Tadcaster promoted. Hopefully we won’t be playing them the season after though because we have similar aspirations in the Evo-Stik North.
“It has been difficult logistically with Jimmy’s work, but obviously we are disappointed to lose him because he is a player that scored 20 goals from midfield last season.
“He is also a fans’ favourite with big links with the town and the community.
“We have to move on though and we are still looking at more players who can come in and make us stronger as a club.
“We’ll keep an eye on Jimmy at Tadcaster. As is the same with all of our ex players, he’ll be welcome back if it doesn’t work out.”
