Ayton under-12s claimed a 3-0 home win against Scalby, which included a wonder-goal from Joe Billingsley.
PJ Drayton opened the scoring for Richard Forbes’ team with a clinical finish in the 15th minute.
Ten-year-old Billingsley then made it 2-0 after the interval with a thumping shot from the halfway line, having spotted the visiting keeper off his line.
Drayton’s second confirmed the win for the hosts, with the Scalby keeper deserving a special mention for some brave stops including a dive to smother the ball at a forward’s feet in the closing moments.
Left-back Billingsley was named as man of the match in his first full game, keeper Luke Calvert also impresing for Ayton.
Leaders Flixton had to battle back from two goals down to claim a thrilling 4-3 home success against Burlington Jackdaws.
The early signs for the home team weren’t good as Burlington tore into the Flixton defence, opening up a two-goal lead which could have been more but for some fine saves from Marley Ward.
As half-time approached Flixton were given a lifeline thanks to a fine run and finish from George Walmsley.
The second half started in the same vein as the first with Burlington throwing everything at Flixton only to find Marley in fine form once more then his twin brother Finley smacked a free-kick against the upright.
Flixton man of the match Walmsley turned the game on its head with two wonder goals, both times running from inside his own half leaving the defence in his wake before coolly slotting the ball past the keeper.
Finley seemed to have clinched the win for Flixton tapping home following a goalmouth scramble.
But Burlington made it 4-3 with a long-range free-kick sneaking in, before it was left for Reece Wilson to seal the win with a last-gasp goalline clearance.
Both sides played some fine football in an entertaining match.
