Boro will be on hosting duty in both games, with Brighouse paying a visit on New Year’s Day and Spennymoor being entertained on January 3.

The pair have already extended the loan spell of Hull City keeper Joe Cracknell for a further month, while they are also keen to lengthen the deal with Doncaster Rovers striker Alex Peterson.

On the downside, defender Matty Plummer and striker Ryan Blott will both miss the Spennymoor game through suspension.

Hughes said: “The deal for Joe is done, which is great news, and we are also hoping to extend the loan spell of Alex as well.

“It is all hands to the pump at the moment and we are hoping to have at least one more player in before the game against Brighouse.

“They are both tough games, but we are at home and we’ll be looking to take advantage of that.”

Boro will be hoping for a couple of bumper crowds at Queensgate to boost their coffers to finish off the festive period.

Admission prices are £9 for adults, £5 for concessions and all children aged under 11 go free.

Also a Boro Bus will be running from the train station at 1.30pm for £3 return for both home games.
