Scarborough Athletic have bolstered their ranks with the addition of striker Sam O’Malley on loan from Grimsby Town.
The 6ft 2in striker has joined Boro on a one-month deal from the Blue Square Premier outfit and will go straight into the squad for tomorrow’s Evo-Stik South clash with Romulus at Queensgate.
O’Malley is a second-year trainee with Grimsby’s youth team having joined the Mariners from Premiership side Hull City in 2012.
Athletic boss Rudy Funk said: “We have been in the market for a centre forward and Sam fits the bill perfectly and is a really good acquisition.
“With the injuries that we have in the squad at the moment and a couple of suspensions coming up it was important that we added someone and Sam’s arrival comes at just the right time.
“We are very grateful to Grimsby for letting him join up with us. They rate the lad very highly and were keen for him to get some game time.
“He is a big guy who will hold the ball up and bring other players into the game. He is exactly what we need in the final third and I’m sure he’ll do well.”
