BORO JUNIORS: Under-15s share the spoils with Tigers

Tigers were on the front foot early on and were denied the lead by an offside flag.

Scarborough’s Under-15s first chance came from a corner, an unmarked Harry Coldbeck heading narrowly wide, then Tom Wright fired just over.

Tigers took the lead eight minutes before the break when Cameron Anderson in the Athletic goal parried a long-range strike onto the post and Dylan Irwin followed up and tap in the loose ball.

Athletic went close just before the break when Kane Randerson-Wray narrowly failed to get on the end of a Dan Simpson cross.

Athletic equalised midway through the half when Simpson was fouled just outside the box, Smith cleverly found Tom Wright from the resulting free-kick and his strike went in off the foot of the post.

Soon after Lewis McGrath blocked one goalbound Tigers effort and Nathan Parker had to clear the resulting danger.

With two minutes remaining Simpson worked an opening just inside the Tigers box and squared the ball to Jake Baldwin, who fired a thunderbolt into the roof of the Tigers net 2-1 to Athletic.

However, the Tigers weren’t done yet and in injury-time they found a well-worked equaliser with Irwin again the scorer.

There was still time for Tigers to hit the post with the last kick of the match.

This was a point gained rather than two points lost for Athletic, who remain top to the league going into the Christmas break.

Scarborough Under-13s took on Hessle Sporting Cobras and secured a 3-0 win.

Last time these two teams met Scarborough Athletic had all the possession but ended up losing the game and straight from the off you could tell they were not going to let that happen again.

Boro took the lead in the first few minutes when some great work down the right hand side saw Oliver Hesketh link up with Gianluca Mastrolonardo to split the Cobras defence.

Mastrolonardo beat his man with some great footwork and delivered a pinpoint cross for Freddy Lockey to finish at the back post to give Boro the lead.

Scarborough continued to play some neat football and a second goal quickly followed when the ball was played into the feet of Aaron Dixon, who laid a neat ball off to Charlie Wright on the edge of the box.

With no hesitation Wright fired a shot straight into the top corner, giving the Cobras keeper no chance.

Five minutes later a free-kick was awarded on the edge of the area, again Wright dispatched it into the back of the net to make it 3-0 at half-time.

The second half continued in the same manner with Boro dominating play, but despite close efforts by Mastrolonardo, Dixon and Hesketh, the Seadogs could not add to the scoresheet.
