And the pair are hoping to secure that touch of commitment from these players as time ticks on towards the new Evo-Stik North campaign.

Boro have now been confirmed in that division after an FA constitution meeting, and Hughes is keen to make sure everything is in place for another tilt at glory.

“We have been speaking to targets and we are hoping to have one or two commit to us over the next week or so,” said Hughes.

“Our budget hasn’t been 100 per cent confirmed yet, but we still have to move to get things in place.

“There will be interest in our players because they did superbly last season.

“Teams will be wanting to talk to them, but obviously we want to hang on to as many as possible.

“Paul (Foot) and myself will be sitting down with the players next week to have a chat about things.

“As well as putting our side across, I think it’s important that they tell us their thoughts on last season and also what they want for the future.”

Hughes will be keen to have everything firmly in place before their pre-season preparatory work gets underway.

They have already confirmed two friendlies for this period, one being against Tony Hackworth’s Pickering Town and the other seeing them put their wits against FA Trophy winners North Ferriby United.

He added: “We have a the Pickering game and the North Ferriby game confirmed, which is great.

“At the moment though we are waiting to hear back from a few Football League clubs. Things are falling into place though.”
