Boro’s Pete plans winning run

Scarborough Athletic midfielder Pete Davidson is calling for another up-turn in form to help his side towards the play-offs.

Saturday’s defeat at the hands of Newcastle Town left Boro’s Evo-Stik South play-off hopes hanging in the balance, but Davidson feels that they still have a chance.

He said: “I don’t think we can afford to lose another game, it has to be draws and wins from here on in.

“It also makes the game against Mickleover on Tuesday night very important as well.

“The good thing is the fact that any team in the league can beat anyone else, we need a few results to go our way.

“We went on a run in mid-season and we have to do something like that again.

“Since then though we have been carrying a lot of injuries, which have been getting worse and worse because of the amount of games we have been playing.

“I also think we have to look at our start to the season as well. If we had started better then we’d have been right up there now.”

Davidson added: “With this squad we should be winning leagues, that will come though.

“If you look at the lads we got in from North Ferriby and the fact that we won the NCEL last season, it bodes well.

“I think with the blend of youth and experience we have we could go as far as the Conference North.”
