West Pier maintained their unbeaten Scarborough News Saturday League Division One record with a 6-5 win at Filey Town on Monday night.
The champions took the lead through Martin Cooper and although Town surged into a 2-1 lead through goals from Matty Gill and Darren Clough, Pier led 3-2 at the break thanks to efforts from Will Jenkinson and Gary Thomas.
Ricky Tomlinson levelled for the hosts, Cooper putting Pier back in front before a Nathan Vernon penalty made it 4-4.
Cooper then completed his hat-trick and Thomas struck his second to put Pier 6-4 up and although Vernon fired in a second spot-kick the champions hung on for the win.
Jamie Bradshaw and Mikey Pickering put in great performances for Andy Spivey’s victorious visitors, while central midfielder Kyle Scaife was Town’s man of the match.
Promoted Goal Sports earned a 2-2 draw at Hunmanby United Reserves in Division Three.
Reggie Smith and Oli Milner scored for United, while Tyson Stubbings and Dan Pickard notched for the away side, with Paul Hill the Goal Sports man of the match.
