FORMER Edgehill boss Sean Chapman has joined the management team at Scarborough Athletic.
Chapman, who spent a number of seasons as Pickering Town’s assistant manager, has been charged with the job of forging links between Boro and other local sides.
It is believed that Chapman had been approached to take the previously vacant Scarborough Town manager’s role, but he has since moved on.
Club chairman Dave Holland is delighted with the appointment.
He said: “Sean is an experienced coach and manager, has extensive knowledge of local football, and is keen to build up relationships between Athletic and the managers and coaches of other clubs in the area.
“We do, of course, want to identify and develop players who have the skills and aspirations to play at higher levels, and support Sean’s enthusiasm to work with local clubs rather than compete with them in identifying that talent.
“We also share Sean’s desire to make sure that the process does not simply become a one-way procession which will strip local clubs of their best and most promising players.
“We take our community responsibilities very seriously, and this appointment will ensure that local clubs themselves will benefit from a relationship with Scarborough’s senior side and from the growing pool of talent drawn to and available to it.”
