Scarborough Athletic midfielder Tom Claisse waved goodbye to the club after Saturday’s thrilling 3-2 victory at Retford.

Claisse, who joined Boro at the beginning of the season, loved his experience at the NCEL Premier club, but he felt that he needed more playing time under his belt.

He said: “I had a word with the gaffer Rudy Funk after the game on Saturday and told him I was leaving, when I woke up on Sunday morning I was gutted about it.

“I had a couple of issues and I just wanted to play a bit more. I have had a few clubs come in for me since they found out, but it will be hard playing for another side after leaving this club.

“The fans are amazing and the club was perfect, but I just had to assess my options.

“I can guarantee that I will be back at Scarborough Athletic in the future, but for the moment I just need things to be right.”
