Clarkson heads to Barton

The frontman picked up an injury in pre-season meaning that he has yet to feature since his return to the club.

Boss Steve Kittrick has sent him out to play for former Boro midfielder Dave Ricardo at Barton to boost his game-time.

Kittrick said: "Lewis is back from injury, but he needs game-time, which is why we have sent him out to Barton.

"We'll keep an eye on him there and when he gets back to fitness we'll have a look at things."
