Former Scarborough FC midfielder Mitch Cook has paid tribute to former club chairman Terry Wood.
Wood sadly passed away earlier this week after a long illness.
He is fondly remembered in Scarborough for playing a big part in getting Boro into the Football League.
Wood took the reins after the death of Barry Adamson in 1986 - the season Boro won the Conference.
Cook, who played in that side, said: “Terry just allowed Neil Warnock to manage the team and because of that we had the success we had.
“If you can have a perfect chairman, Terry was very close to that.
“As well as doing all he did for the club, Terry was also a true gent.
“He was a great character, a calming influence, and a genuinely nice man.”
