DARREN KELLY: Young keeper kept us at bay
We were unlucky on Saturday to come up against one of the best performances I have seen by a young goalkeeper at this level.
Bobby Jones, who only signed for Warrington that morning, pulled off some excellent saves.
We had a great chance early on and had we taken it you would often see a young keeper struggle after this, but we missed it and he went the other way and had a superb game, if they had not had him in goal we would have had a few goals.
The away support was excellent for us again, on so many occasions this season Boro fans have outnumbered the home support despite our away stats being as disappointing as they have been.
Putting this away form right will be one of my main aims during the close season and I’m already looking forward to what I can do during the summer with this group of players.
I am very positive at the moment and there have been no issues but if players at any point are becoming a negative influence I shall have no hesitation in moving them on, I have a ruthless side and am not afraid to make changes.
The home form has been outstanding, and I think a lot of that is as much down to the fans as the players’ positive reaction since I came in, it is so good to see the club pulling together in one direction, and hopefully this will continue at home to Radcliffe in the league this Saturday.
Josh Barrett, who has been brilliant recently, is the only new injury doubt for Saturday but he is a warrior and will try his best to be fit for the weekend.
The only other absentee is Isaac Assenso with his long-term knee injury.
Young defender Tom Allan had a great debut at Warrington, he is a big strong lad at six foot four and has great defensive qualities.
Hopefully he will do well in his month on loan from York City, and ideally if he does well we would like to have him longer.
Tom is out of contract with York at the end of the season so he could be someone we might look at in the summer as we plan for next season.
