AYTON secured their first win of the season with a dramatic comeback, claiming a 6-3 victory at Hunmanby Hornets despite trailing 3-1 at the half-time break.
Striker Cameron Dobson opened the scoring with a well-placed free-kick, Ayton levelling the scores with a penalty from Steve Dorey after Marlon Moreno had been fouled in the area.
Dobson continued his sparkling form with a second goal, shaking off his marker and smashing a shot past Ayton keeper Damon Gormley.
Hornets ace Dobson completed his hat-trick with a superb effort, showing his agility and skills to take the ball past three Ayton players before sliding his shot past Gormley.
Player-boss Mark Plumpton’s half-time team-talk did the trick though, as the visitors banged in five goals without reply to secure the points.
On the hour mark, Dorey headed in Liam Fraser’s corner to kick-start Ayton’s revival.
Sub Daniel Gregory then made it 3-3 when Hornets keeper Jon Hyde fumbled the striker’s tame 20-yard effort into the net.
Another of Ayton’s subs, youngster Jaymaine White then put the visitors in front, sliding in at the far post to fire past Hyde and he then struck again with a cross-cum-shot that was fumbled into the net by the home goalkeeper.
The visitors completed the win with a delicate lob from Dan Pollard.
Dorey was named man of the match for a strong display in his first game of the season, while Dobson was the star man for the Hornets.
