Falsgrave open gap at the top with FC Soba win

BILLY Jo-Johnson’s Falsgrave side moved to the summit of the third division after inflicting FC Soba’s first defeat since setting up this season.

Falsgrave fell behind to a Tim Moore strike after 20 minutes as Soba moved the ball around, but they were pegged back 15 minutes later when Paul Brady went round keeper Steve Marsh and slotted into the empty net.

It remained at one apiece until the 70th minute when Mikey Anderson calmly slotted under Marsh when one-on-one to seal their win.

Boss Johnson said: “We were superb. We have a good, strong squad this season and had seven subs, none of them complained either.

“All our players work hard and that helped us out.”

Westover Wasps Reserves smashed 14 past eight-man Scalby Reserves.

Liam Buglass hit seven and Aidan McCullan fired a hat-trick, while Simon Coupland added two.

Sunny Richardson also registered while substitute Eddie McKenzie scored with his first touch.

Paul Mills was unlucky to be on the losing side as he netted two in Seamer Reserves’ 4-2 defeat at Sleights.

One of the Sleights players broke his leg and was forced to hospital in an ambulance.

Scott McCabe was on form for Cayton Reserves, his two goals helping them to a 7-2 win against Ayton Reserves.

Jack Long added two while Daz Stabler, Jamie Whitelaw and John Stockell all netted for Cayton.

Whitby RUFC had a great day in front of goal as they found the back of the net 10 times against Ganton on their way to a comfortable 10-0 win and three points.
