Fans aiming for Boro board roles

Four Scarborough Athletic fans are looking to book their place on the board of directors when the club holds its AGM later this month.

Current vice-chairman Wendy Danby, fellow director Geoff Osguthorpe, Steve Smith and Paul Curson are all going for places on the board.

They will put their points of view across to fans at the meeting, which takes place at the Scarborough Borough Council Welfare Social Club, Dean Road, Scarborough at 7.30pm on November 27.

The four applicants to stand for the board have been checked by the election management group, who are satisfied as to their validity.

As per the society’s election rules policy, and the 2013 election timetable, this means that there will not be a contested election this year.

However, all four candidates will need to face an affirmative ballot at the society’s AGM in November.

If the candidates receive an endorsement from over 50 per cent of the members present (and via proxy) then they will be duly elected to the club’s board.

In lieu of an election hustings event, all four candidates have been asked to take part in a Q&A session prior to the main business of the AGM in November, enabling society members the opportunity to ask them questions prior to the affirmative ballot.

To ensure that there is a variety of questions from as many joint owners as possible and to give candidates time to provide a fair response joint owners are asked to submit questions in advance of the meeting.

Following the AGM and after a short break the club will be holding an open question and answer session with manager Rudy Funk in attendance.
