Fantasy League: Week 2 - Geall’s PK XI power into top spot

PK XI had Christian Benteke and Vincent Kompany in fine form, picking up 29 points between them.

Mesut Ozil, Andre Ayew and Chris Smalling scored seven a piece with ‘keeper Tim Howard scooping up eight points for Tony’s side.

With 58 points in his first week and now a seven-point gap from second placed ‘Shorties Squad’ - managed by Aaron Shortle, who will be happy with his consistent second place finishes in game week’s one and two.

Mahmoud Moawad has pulled into third by using his ‘Bench Boost’, while week one leader Rob Clubley drops to fourth.

Lee Paterson, Alex Wray, Carl Sample, Daniel Gregory, Ben Webster and Tommy Smith fill the rest of the spots in th top 10 spots in the table.

Michael Dennis’ ‘The Amigos’ lie at the bottom of the table, although they only have one gameweek’s worth of points.

This week’s MVP was Romelu Lukaku with 13 points, a huge 26 if he was your captain. After two weeks though, Riyad Mahrez is still the overall MVP with 25 points.

Three of the top five teams in the Barclays Premier League enjoy home comforts this week as The Scout casts an eye over the gameweek three schedule.

Manchester United seek a third successive victory as Newcastle United visit Old Trafford in Saturday lunchtime’s early kick-off. Second-placed Leicester City entertain Tottenham Hotspur, while Everton host free-scoring Manchester City, who have netted six times without reply in their first two fixtures.

Elsewhere, champions Chelsea seek their first win of the season away to West Bromwich Albion. In-form Swansea City travel to struggling Sunderland, while Arsenal and Liverpool go head-to-head at the Emirates Stadium on Monday evening.

Ones to watch:

Jefferson Montero - Swansea (£6m)

Swansea travel to Sunderland this week and after an impressive showing against Dutch international Daryl Janmaat in which Janmaat got himself sent off, Billy Jones will have his work cut out against Montero. With an assist last week, expect more as he plays against a team that has shipped 7 goals in their opening two games. With extra bonus points for clean sheets, Montero will benefit from the Black Cat’s lack of ability to play well going forward in recent times.

Ibrahim Affelay - Stoke (£5.5m)

Affelay is a former Champions League winner, one of five brought in by Mark Hughes. Despite not playing well in early weeks, a trip to promoted Watford could kick-start his season. With Xherdan Shaqiri likely to join him in attack this week, a big weekend could be on the cards for Stoke and Ibrahim can be at the centre of it.

Eden Hazard - Chelsea (£11.5m)

The Premier League’s best player last season hasn’t quite got going so far this season and was often left looking poor against Man City last weekend. He’s bound to click into place and have an outstanding few weeks, no place better than at the Hawthorns when Mourinho needs his star players to step up to the plate.

Callum Wilson - Bournemouth (£5.4m)

After two impressive performances for Bournemouth, where officiating errors have cost them, Wilson has looked a constant menace in both. For only £5.4m, he is a bargain and a proven goalscorer. A trip to West Ham could help his side to pick up their first points and he will be at the centre of it.

Memphis Depay - Man Utd (£8.5m)

After Newcastle were comprehensively beaten by Swansea, losing their first choice right-back in the process it looks bleak for the magpies as they head to Old Trafford. With Memphis Depay showing his quality on tuesday night against Club Brugge, he will be looking to continue his form against a out-of-sorts Newcastle, expect big points in this one-sided saturday lunchtime kick-off.
