Midfielder Spence has joined Town on a one-year contract with another year’s option, but will be on loan at Scarborough for the rest of the year.

“He’s a kid that’s been on trial with us and done well,” said Wild.

“He’s one for the future. He’s gone out and played men’s football at a young age, which I really like.

“I think he’s an investment from the club, but he now needs to continue his development, and he’ll continue that at Scarborough until January 2 and then we’ll review whether he needs to go higher, stay at the same level or come back to us.

“When I walked in here we had about four players, so what I’m trying to do is build longevity, build a structure at the club, and bringing Kian in is a good bit of business.

“He’s a young player with a lot of potential.
“We had an under 23’s trial at the back end of last season and he did well, but then Covid hit so we had to stop.

“After that we promised we’d bring him in on trial and he’s really stood out.

“Knowing his background, what he’s done and where he’s been, we’re really pleased.”
