FC Filey u16s 3 (Cornish 2, Coyne)

Kirkbymoorside 2 (Ben Richmond 2)

Kirkbymoorside got off to a flying start, shocking Filey with a goal from Ben Richmond in the first 30 seconds, when he shot low into the corner from just inside the area.

This sparked Filey into life but they found Kirkby resolute in defence.

It was Kirkby who in fact extended their lead against the run of play when Richmond again chased a long ball and got to it before the keeper. Kirkby’s goal lived a charmed life for the remainder of the half.

Jamie Cornish finished smartly after rounding the keeper at the start of the second half to bring Filey back into the game score wise and it looked increasingly like Kirkby wouldn’t be able to hold their lead.

Billy Coyne back headed a free-kick over the keeper to give Filey parity shortly after.

The rest of the game consisted of Filey pressure with the odd Kirkby break away but as the game looked to be heading for extra-time Cornish struck again in the last minute to take victory in dramatic fashion, cutting in from the left and hitting his shot into the bottom left corner giving the keeper no chance.
